At China Wind Power (CWP) 2018, the leading wind power exhibition in Asia and one of the top three wind trade shows in the world, we were delighted to showcase the installation of our first polyurethane wind turbine. The exhibition, which took place in Beijing from 17-19 October, also provided a great opportunity for us to present our innovative materials to the wind power sector and interact with key stakeholders.
At our booth we displayed wind energy products and samples from our PUR and CAS business units. A special installation allowed visitors to view our video showing the entire manufacturing process of our wind blade turbine recently installed in North China. In the spirit of digitalization, we also created an interactive VR booth shared via our WeChat channel so our followers and partners who weren’t able to attend in person could still share the experience.
Offline and Online Activities
To generate the deepest possible engagement throughout CWP we combined offline and online activities. All of our colleagues from the APAC PUR wind blade team joined a charity run in Beijing to raise money for a recovery center where children with leukemia and their families can get free rehabilitation, psychological counseling and other services. Promoting a sustainable and healthy lifestyle, we encouraged our WeChat followers to sign up to a 5km run and send us a screenshot of their run from any fitness app to win a Covestro gift.
Casting the spotlight on our recent successes in PUR materials for the wind industry, we held a lively media roundtable with seven top representatives of the energy trade media to announce the successful installation of our PUR wind blade in North China. Julien Guiu, Vice President and Head of Industrial Marketing, Asia Pacific, PUR, also shared his insights in PUR applications in wind power. Sean Xiao, Sales Manager of PUR Covestro, had the honour of being the first speaker at the three-day wind power conference, delivering a speech at the Innovation Theatre on cost efficient wind blades enabled by innovative PUR resin.
Impressions and Achievements
Overall our participation at CWP 2018 was a big success, attracting widespread attention from trade and social alike. Our on-site teams took the opportunity to meet and interact with customers and clients whilst our VR booth attracted more than 600 virtual visitors. We were also proud that more than 60 WeChat followers took part in the “Run with Covestro” activity.
CWP 2018 enabled us to get closer to partners and customers, while showcasing our capabilities as an innovative material supplier to the wind industry. As a result of this closer relationship with partners and customers we received endorsements from two partners and two customers, attracted new potential customers to our innovative wind solutions and agreed to start an exciting new cooperation with three glass fiber companies. All in all, a great success and a promising sign for valuable wind partnerships to power a sustainable future.
